New Life International In Haiti
New Life International has received many blessings concerning Haiti. We had the opportunity in 2011 to purchase land in Nirva (near Mirebalais on the main road from Port au Prince), Haiti, and also to work with Brian Rauschenberger, a longtime missionary who has deep roots in Haiti and a strong desire to return to witness and work for God’s Kingdom.
Our goals for this land include, but are not limited to: a base in Haiti from which to distribute water purifiers and conduct system training, an eventual Bible College and Conference Center for young people and pastors with high school diplomas to receive training in ministry and doctrine, and a Guest House for the ministries that are lacking adequate accommodations for the many mission and work teams they are bringing into the Mirebalais area since the earthquake.
Jesus taught us that although the spiritual needs of mankind are the greatest, the material and physical needs must also be met, such as feeding the hungry and healing the sick. An immediate need is the distribution and installation of water purification systems. The ongoing spread of cholera in Haiti has made this imperative. We have already distributed many of these in Haiti and continue to do so. Our planned projects reflect our desire for our Haitian brothers and sisters to have life more abundant: with food, water, education and income, free from the damaging cycle of dependency.
Since we purchased the land last year, we have come across a variety of people wishing to begin or expand their ongoing work in Haiti. We are looking to establish long term win-win type relationships that benefit all the parties involved while synergistically increasing the effectiveness of everyone’s ministry and services to the Haitians we serve.
Haiti has been the beneficiary of perhaps more humanitarian resources than any other country in the Western Hemisphere, and yet huge challenges remain. With the purchase of the land we are discovering many opportunities to work together with a variety of people and share infrastructure resources, thus minimizing overall costs and improving physical security. The list of such emerging collaborative opportunities, in no particular order, is growing quite long: safe drinking water, medical helicopter ministry, disaster relief, agriculture, reforestation, youth programs, aquaponics, beehives/honey, food security, pastoral education, sanitation, hygiene, irrigation, job creation, etc. It is our hope to help create a framework whereby well rounded initiatives can truly transform the lives of the people of Haiti for eternity both physically as well as spiritually.
We believe that working together with other ministries can make all of these things easier to implement and less costly. Also, as the dynamics of Haiti change, we believe working together will facilitate transitions and adjustments that will be more responsive, efficient, and effective.
We understand that this is a great undertaking and believe God has given us an ongoing vision for what He wants us to do in Haiti. Please prayerfully consider your part in this Kingdom building.
