Rotarians Involved
The number of Rotarians and clubs involved to date would only be a guess. On a daily basis, New Life International is in contact with clubs from around the world, as they work together to help the poorest of the poor.
Erv Otte with the Bedford, Indiana Club, has contacted the Rotary clubs of Arc en Ciel, Millenium and Savane in Burkina Faso, Africa to partner with US clubs in sponsoring 40 purifiers. In Burkina Faso, babies and children die every night from dysentery. Erv is also trying to develop a project with a club and a school in Pakistan.
In January 2007, Terry Bivens-Fry, a Rotarian from the Clarksville, Indiana Club, attended IV International Projects Fair in San Carlos, Sonora Mexico. She attended as a Rotarian and a representative of New Life International’s water purification team.
The objectives of this conference in San Carlos were to:
- Reach out to someone who truly needs help
- Develop a relationship with a club in another country
- Become acquainted with the customs and culture of a faraway place
Terry has represented New Life International at several District Conferences throughout the USA setting up the water purifier display and speaking in breakout sessions on the opportunities available to help.
She and other New Life staff are available to present to you how your club or district could be involved - in either a small way or a huge way - reaching out as Rotarians around the world.
